The week of October 5th, we went on vacation to Boston and New York. It was a trip of a lifetime!! I can’t tell you how much fun we had and how incredibly grateful I am to have had such an experience. ! I’ve never been to Boston. We met Tim’s parents there and stayed in a wonderful hotel right across from the Boston Commons. I could write forever, but the highlights of Boston for me were:

Trinity Church – a gorgeous Episcopalian Church in Copley Square. It earned the American Architects distinction of being one of the top 10 buildings in America. It is stunning!

Kennedy Museum and Library – we saw so many personal items that belonged to JFK and Jackie Kennedy.

The Daily Catch – Tim’s mother suggested this unique restaurant in the North End. It seats 16 and they cook right being you. I had grilled scallops and Tim had scallops and pasta in a red sauce. It came to our table in its skillet.

Freedom Trail – this amazing walk included Paul Revere’s house, Faneuil Hall, the Old North Church.

Legal Seafood’s – I can’t tell you how many people told us to go there! We went over the first day we were there and watched Monday night Football and had a nightcap. It’s got a great atmosphere!

We also went to my friend Laurie’s house for dinner. We met her family and her dog Jake! It’s a long story, but we had her over for dinner quite a bit when she was working in LA. We talked about animals all the time! She makes possibly the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had! And she had an enormous casserole dish filled with it, but nothing was left!

The next day, we took the train to New York. The fall colors hadn’t really started when we were there, but we did get some colors in Connecticut.

New York was a dream! Tim had not been there for 5 years. We got in early on Thursday and earlier that month I made reservations at Bar Americain – Bobby Flay’s restaurant in Time’s Square. The food was exceptional! We had a wonderful bottle of Argentian white wine, snapper, cauliflower in goat cheese, Muscles and frites. We finished the night at the Algonquin hotel for a nightcap.

The next day, we walked in the drizzle in Central Park on our way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was fantastic! We spent most of our time in the Modern Art and Egyptian sections. I took off and visited the Medieval and French areas and got horribly lost. That night we ate at our favorite Italian place in mid-town, very close to our hotel.

The final day was sad! We had a chance to go in to the Chrysler Building and take pictures of the lobby. We also walked to the UN. At night, we were lucky enough to go to Radio City Music Hall to see “The Lord of the Rings” movie with a full orchestra.

It’s been nice to be back, but that vacation was so great! I took a TON of pictures! I can’t wait to go back!
